What is Profhilo?

Profhilo^® is an ultrapure hyaluronic acid (HA), manufactured without the addition of any cross-linking chemicals. It is designed to be injected into the dermis (the middle layer of the skin) in order to stimulate the skin to produce more of its own hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin. As a result it aims to reduce skin laxity caused by age or sun damage over time.

Where can Profhilo be used?

Profhilo can be used on any part of the body that will benefit from hydration with hyaluronic acid, such as the skin of the face, neck upper chest, or back of the hand. Due to its innovative composition, it is designed to improve the quality of skin that appears crumply, thin or crepey.

Can everybody use Profhilo?

Most people are okay to have Profhilo^®, as long as they do not have a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid. If a patient has an active skin infection like acne, cold sores or impetigo, most cosmetic treatments and injections in the are should be avoided.
For obvious ethical reasons, scientific tests are not performed on pregnant women, or mothers who breast-feed their babies. So there is no data as to whether Profhilo^® is safe in these conditions. Patients whose immune response is altered, either by disease or medication, are more likely to have reactions, infection and other complications with hyaluronic acid injections.

Are there any risks or side effects with Profhilo treatments?

There could be some pain, redness, bruising, bleeding or swelling as with all injection procedures. These will settle with no sequelae. Profhilo^® is biocompatible because it’s composed of a highly pure grade hyaluronic acid produced by biofermentation. Due to it’s high purity and absence of additives, Profhilo^® offers greater safety and therefore reduced side effects.

How long does the result from Profhilo last?

The effects will last generally between 6 months to a year. The better your maintenance and care of your skin, the longer the results will last

What areas can be treated with Profhilo?

Profhilo^® is designed to improve skin laxity when it is injected into Bio-Aesthetic Points in the face. Profhilo^® is also shown to improve skin texture in all areas where crepiness and sagging of skin is noticed, such as in the front of the nect, the decolletage, the backs of hands, and upper arms.

What is the difference between Profhilo and dermal fillers?

Hyaluronic acid is often confused as being the same as dermal fillers – it is not. Many dermal fillers are composed of hyaluronic acid, but HA is used in various other products as well. Profhilo^® is composed of BDDE-free concentrated Hyaluronic acid specifically designed to improve the appearance of skin laxity and improve the resilience of skin.
What makes it different from conventional hyaluronic acid fillers is that does not volumise. But with its higher concentration of HA, acts to improve skin elasticity and tissue collagen quality, by boosting and hydrating the skin as well as lifting and tightening the sagging tissue.
