Obagi Clenziderm MD system (Prescription only)

Obagi Clenziderm MD system is a prescription skincare system for acne-prone skin. It contains 3 products:

  • CLENZIderm MD Daily Care Foaming Cleanser
  • CLENZIderm MD Pore Therapy
  • CLENZIderm MD Therapeutic Lotion

These products are designed to target the main problems of those with acne prone skin: excess oil production, oily shine, surface bacteria that increase acne inflammation, and clogged pores. By targeting all these concerns, regular use of this system will help to maintain a clearer, healthier complexion.

You may have already had a consultation with the doctor and been allocated a prescription. If so, you would have been given a special link to enable you to purchase it. Please use that link, which is likely to be on an email addressed to you.

If you wish to purchase this system but you do not have a prescription, please complete the request form here.

The foaming cleanser removes excess oil and other impurities that contribute to acne breakouts with 2% salicylic acid and washes away dead skin cells, leaving skin feeling clean and refreshed. The Pore therapy toner helps unclog pores with gentle exfoliation by 2% salicylic acid. Therapeutic lotion contains 5% benzoyl peroxide, which is effective against acne-producing bacteria.

The combination helps to reduce skin inflammation, clear breakouts, and prevent new breakouts. When used as prescribed following a consultation with a medical professional, users notice improved complexion even after a week of use.

Active Ingredient:  2% Salicylic Acid

Benefits of Salicylic acid for acne-prone skin

Salicylic acid is a BHA (beta hydroxy acid). It helps loosen the dead skin cells which accumulate over time on the skin surface, so that they exfoliate naturally and reveal healthy skin. It is also a keratolytic (a compound that can dissolve keratin). Keratin is formed naturally in skin and when it is excessive, it can form scaly plugs that block pores and the openings of the skin glands.

The bacteria which causes acne breakouts is called Propionibacterium acnes (P acnes). This bacteria occurs inside skin pores, so if the pores are blocked with keratin, they cannot be cleansed easily. This leads to infection and inflammation – resulting in a breakout of acne.
