Why we are different

You may have been to clinics where your consultation was with a non-medical staff member calling themselves a “skin specialist” although trained only in make up and beauty treatment.
You may have encountered medical doctors who referred to themselves as “cosmetic specialist” or “anti-aging specialist” even if they worked this area only a tiny proportion of their time and performed just botox and filler injections after-hours.
We are different.
At Reverse Time, you can have your initial anti-ageing and aesthetic consultation with a fully qualified, accredited and regulated Doctor who specializes in Aesthetic Medicine. This first appointment is of utmost importance for the planning of your subsequent treatments.

Good practice pointers to the ethical aesthetic specialist

Your skin and the trend of aging in your face will be examined carefully after a comprehensive medical history. It is not advisable to rush into a procedure without proper planning. Good practice includes a cooling period to consider and not rush to perform a procedure on the day of the first consultation.
Often, clinics that advertise free consultation and/or rush into procedures on the first appointment, have a sales driven approach.

For a consultation to be truly impartial, one would need to present all options for treatment including those that are not offered by the clinic. It would be unsustainable if this professional advice were free.
The assessment will cover aspects of your skin such as skin texture, wrinkling, redness, thread veins, sun damage within the skin, pigmentation and pore size.
Knowledge of your skin’s weaknesses and strengths then help develop a bespoke aesthetic plan to support your skin to keep it looking its very best. If you then wish to consider medical treatment, we can advise on non-surgical procedures that would be suitable for your concerns.
We believe in transparency and in being non-pushy in all aspects of our service. We aim to provide an honest estimate of pricing of consultation and treatments in advance wherever possible. Naturally, the exact price of any procedure will depend on factors such as the amount and type of product involved, which may only become clear in clinic.

How will I look after treatment?

You will look like you, with emphasis on your best aspects. People might compliment you on how good you look, say you “look well”. They may enquire whether you have been on holiday rather than suspecting you may have had ‘something done.’ We are trying to ‘help the skin to help itself’, rather than simply ‘painting over the cracks’ or artificially changing your appearance.

Results speak for themselves:

Balanced, proportionate and aesthetically pleasing results are what we aim for. The best aesthetic results are achieved by a holistic approach, combining different treatment methods to address the whole face and all aspects of skin aging.
When this has been done successfully by an experienced practitioner, you can get fantastic results without surgery. You may have heard the term ‘liquid face lift’ to describe a non-surgical whole face approach.
We also know how important the appearance of your chest, neck and hands is to your total self-image. These exposed skin areas, too, can be evaluated and treated.
And it is not just vanity. The confidence of knowing that you look your best has been shown in scientific studies to be a significant factor in improving self-esteem.

Specialist in Aesthetic Medicine

Aesthetic medicine has for long been considered an art, not a science. Unfortunately, it was surrounded by taboos. Someone who wanted cosmetic treatment was regarded (mostly by themselves) as vain and selfish. This led to internal conflict, emotional pressure and misplaced guilt in the patient.
Traditionally, those who sought to improve their appearance with cosmetic medical treatments had to approach various doctors and specialists in dermatology, reconstructive surgery and plastic surgery, based on hearsay, celebrity status, advertising and social media. Each specialist would then recommend treatments in which they were conversant.
Added to this was the lack of structured training in aesthetics, which meant anyone with a medical or even related degree could claim that they could perform miracles. Fortunately there is now structured training, accreditation, and certification available to doctors who wish to specialize in this area.

What is aesthetic medicine?

Aesthetic medicine broadly covers medical specialties that focus on improving cosmetic appearance through the treatment of conditions like scars, skin laxity, wrinkles, moles, liver spots, excess fat, cellulite, unwanted hair, skin discoloration, and spider veins.

But I thought anyone could train to inject botox and fillers?

That is a myth. Only prescribers like doctors and nurses can use these prescription medications.
Aesthetic medicine is now one of the fastest growing medical specialities. Aesthetic medicine includes both surgical procedures (liposuction, facelifts, breast implants, Radio frequency ablation) and non-surgical procedures (radio frequency skin tightening, non-surgical liposuction, chemical peels).
Reassuringly, non-surgical procedures are rapidly evolving in the treatment of premature aging, skin damage, scars and deformities.
Although aesthetic medicine procedures are typically elective, they can significantly improve quality of life, psychological well-being and social function.
