How do i stop my skin getting irritated from central heating and being out in the cold? As the weather turns we see more and more patients with skin complaints such as dehydration, congested skin and increased sensitivity as the weather gets colder and the central heating comes on!
The skin is stripped of moisture by wind, central heating and low humidity. This then leads to the breakdown of the skin barrier making the skin red, sore and irritated and making conditions such eczema worse.
To prevent this from happening we recommend a good moisturiser used morning and evening if needed (ingredients such as hyaluronic acid are great!) keeping up your water intake, wearing SPF rain or shine, and regular gentle chemical exfoliation to rid the skin of dead skin cells and allowing the active ingredients into the skin.
