Ageing and Hormones

We age as our hormones decline, and bio-identical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) is an exciting progression in the science of health ageing. For quite some time we were limited to addressing the outward signs (change in appearance, organs like the heart and kidneys failing). What we did not realise was that if we could address the causes of the ageing rather than just the symptoms, we can help to heal the imbalances in hormone levels.

This in turn, would help to slow down the body’s natural decline, so we may retain more of our energy and vitality.

A bit about hormones – these are “messengers” – or chemical signalling compounds, that exist naturally in our bodies. Through our bloodstream, they travel to all the nooks and crannies of our bodies. They are important parts of the activities that our organs and cells perform every second of our lives. We don’t even realise these processes are happening, because they occur “in the background” so to speak, and we do not actually exercise conscious control over these.
